 Pat Quinn on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos http://www.cbc.ca/thehour At 66, you'd think Pat Quinn might be ready for retirement, but no, he wants to get back behind an NHL bench. So, what's his story? Well, in 1968, he made the NHL - joining the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, as far as his playing days go, Pat is probably best remembered for a huge hit on Bobby Orr in the '69 playoffs. He played nine years in the NHL but his career ended when he fell off a skateboard and shattered his leg. So in 1977, Pat got a gig as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Flyers. Two years later, he was head coach and led the Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals. From there, he coached the L.A. Kings, picked up a law degree and then, went to Vancouver to become President, GM and coach of the Canucks. In '94, he went to the finals again but the Canucks lost to the New York Rangers. Next, Pat went to Toronto and spent 7 seasons coaching the Leafs. He left in 2006 and was asked to coach our juniors this past year - leading the team to its 5th straight gold medal.
